"I'm excited to go down there and spend time with the kids and grand- kids," Dosch said. Rolla Superintendent Kevin Baumgarn acknowledged it won't be easy to replace Dosch and her three decades of experience. "It's sad to see her go," Baumgarn said. "She has made a positive im- pact on a lot of kids and made a real difference in their lives." Dosch spent her first seven years teaching third grade. The next 19 were spent in the fourth grade and the last four have been in the fifth. Her smallest classroom consisted of 13 students and the largest was 29. All told, Dosch estimated she has taught around 600 pupils, including current r0embcrs of the. school board. "It has gone by so fast," Dosch said. "I have a hard time believing it when I see some of the students come back and are now having their own families." Sometime during her tenure she decided to have her students jot down some thoughts and put them in a time capsule. Among other things, Dosch is credited with keeping almost everything, including those docu- ments. Dosch said getting a chance to read those capsules when the stu- dents are seniors has been one of sev- eral highlights. "It's been fun reading those at jun- ior-senior banquets," Dosch said. "That is just one of the things I'm going to miss. Kids would always call me mom or grandma too. I'm re- ally going to miss that." Dosch said the next chapter in her life is far from written. She would Teacher (Continued from Page 1) like to spend some time at the lake, and take whatever comes next. "I've never been in this position before," Dosch said. 'Tm going to miss this; but am looking forward to what's next, too." .... E.L.C. CONCRETE For all your concrete needs!
