They had an early celebration of Carol and Nell's upcoming birthdays. Lloyd and Sharon Hovland hosted a birthday party for their grandchil- dren, Gracie Neufeld, and Evan and Brian Kurtti, on Sunday. Gracie turned 12 on May 28 and Evan and Brian turned 4 on May 27. Other guests were Gracie's parents, Chris and Carlyss Neufeld, and Hope, of rural Rolla; Sarah Kurtti, of rural Rock Lake; and Evan and Brian's parents, Brent and Lori Kurtti, and Owen, of rural Mylo. Trudy Eide, of Fargo, came to the home of her parents, Glenn and Mavis Overby, on Monday for a visit. Kenny Spaeth, of Grand Forks, and his daughter, Sonia Spaeth, of Crookston, Minnesota, arrived at the home of Kenny's niece and nephew, Joey Wulkowicz and Pete Solberg, on Friday. Kenny and Sonia visited Kenny's cousin, Delores Galow, of rural Bisbee, on the way. Kenny and Sonia left on Tuesday morning to re- turn home. Christi Johnson, Carol Halone and Jerry Johnson, all of Fargo, ar- rived at the home of Christi and Jerry's mother, Sheila Schmidt, on Friday and were houseguests until leaving to return home on Monday. Gary and Rita Bacher, of rural Wolford; Wencil Martin, of Rolette; Leon and Jeanna Beachy, Tyrese and Alexa; and Dorothy Yoder were Sun- day lunch guests of Dorvan and Eileen Yoder and family. Curt and Joan Anfinson left on Thursday, May 15, on their trike for the home of their daughter, Aliza, and Thad Owens, Zadin and Chase, of Edgerton, Kansas. Curt and Joan stayed overnight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and arrived at the Owens home on Friday. Curt and Joan enjoyed staying with Zadin and Chase and attending Zadin's baseball games. Thad and Aliza went on a camping and fishing trip and returned home on Thursday. Curt and Joan left Edgerton on Friday, and arrived home on Saturday evening. Jane Ormiston, of Minot, and her twin sister, Joan Anfinson, met their sister, Jackie Klingbeil, of Bottineau, on Sunday. The ladies visited the cemeteries where their grandparents and parents are buried and placed flowers on the graves. They spent time at Lake Metigoshe that after- noon before returning to their re- spective homes. Tyler Zappone, of Minot, and his mother, Renae Zappone, left on Thursday for Pelican Rapids, Min- nesota, where they were houseguests of Renae's brother, Mitch, and Sue Monson, Addy and Emily. On Friday evening, they attended Addy's high school graduation ceremony. On Sat- urday, they were among the friends and relatives at the open house re- ception for Addy at the Monson home. Renae and Tyler returned on Sundayl On Monday morning, Darryl and Renae Zappone and Tyler attended the Memorial Day ceremony at Ro- lette. Darryl was a participant in the ceremony, Tyler returned to Minot on Monday evening. Becky Ballantyne and Cain, of rural Souris, came to the home of Becky's mother, RuthAnn, and Ervin Helmuth on Wednesday afternoon, May 21, to help RuthAnn celebrate her birthday that day. Keith and Jill Helmuth, Kell and Keen sustained minor damage to some of their outbuildings in the Monday night tornado that touched down approximately one mile from their home and destroyed a man camp in its path. Ervin and RuthAnn Helmuth at- tended the high school graduation ceremony at Wolford School on Sat- urday evening. Afterwards, they went to the open house in honor of Tonya Slaubaugh at the home of her parents, Denton and Betty Slaubaugh. Ervin and RuthAnn Helmuth went to Bottineau on Sunday and at- tended the high school graduation ceremony. They then went to the open house for Garret Lynnes, son of John and Jalee Lynnes, of Bottineau. Garret is the grandson of Ervin's sis- ter, Miriam and David Lynnes, of Bottineau. Later on Sunday afternoon, Ervin and RuthAnn Helmuth went to the open house at the home of Jared and Tracy Ballantyne, of rural Westhope. Sage Ballantyne, daughter of Russell and Penny Ballantyne, and Sage's cousin, Hunter Ballantyne, son of Jared and Tracy, were the honorees following their high school gradua- tion. Ervin and RuthAnn's daughter, Becky, and Josh Ballantyne and Cain were among the relatives and friends attending the open house. Russell and Jared are Josh's brothers. Ervin and RuthAnn Helmuth were among those at the Graber and Friends breakfast at a Rugby restau- rant Tuesday morning. Terry Armstrong, of Devils Lake, visited Daniel and Darla Armstrong Thursday evening. Sunday supper guests of Daniel and Darla Armstrong were Kevin and Dianne Johnson, of rural Rolla, and Dean Armstrong and Dale Arm- strong. Glenn and Cathy Armstrong visited that evening. Daniel and Darla Armstrong, Dean Armstrong and Dale Arm- strong were Monday supper guests of Gary and Nancy Wibe. Dale Arm- strong left on Tuesday morning to re- turn to his Zimmerman, Minnesota, home after spending a couple weeks here visiting relatives and friends. Memorial Day visitors at the Lee and Judy Lewis home were their daughter, Shari Jerde, and Chanda Jo, of Bottineau, and Shari's grand- son, Colton Lee Carney, of Grand Forks. On Tuesday morning, Kenneth Spaeth, of Grand Forks, and his daughter, Sonia Spaeth, of Crook- stun, Minnesota, visited Lee and Re,tie Lavina Lemieux A large crowd attended the Me- morial Day Program at the Rolette Memorial Hall last Monday. The ad- dress was given by Major Chris Brown, formerly of Bottineau. The Rolette Community Choir did a wonderful job. On the program was written: "We thank all our veterans for what they have done and those people who serve us daily in law en- forcement and those who volunteer for firefighting and ambulance serv- ices." Janie Jung went ton Surry to spend time with her family over the Memorial Day weekend. On May 25, she and her family celebrated a great-nephew's graduation from high school. Later that day, Janie went with her family members to visit her brother's burial place. When Janie returned to Rolette, she attended graduation parties for several graduates. Katherin LaCroix, who has been in Fargo for knee replacement sur- gery, has been the recipient of many get well cards, phone calls and prayers from her friends and neigh- bors. While she was in Fargo, she stayed with her children, Maria, Gina and Eric. Katherin is thankful for all of the love and support she has received from the community and her family during her six weeks of therapy. Discussion at the Let Your Hair Down Club men's table centered around oil production possibility in Eastern North Dakota, guns, haircuts and life in general. Cathy Armstrong hosted a birth- day party for her sister-in-law, Lav- ina Lemieux, on Tuesday, May 22. Guests included Peggy Schell, of Mylo; Darla Armstrong; Mary Rose Boucher; Pat Beaver; and Amy Nel- son. Cathy served a lovely lunch and had made a special hummingbird cake for Lavina. Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily and friends of Vincent Bonn, age 89. Vincent passed away at the Ro- lette Community Care Center on Fri- day, May 23, 2014. His funeral was held on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rolette. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Bisbee. Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily and friends of Darrald Grenier, age 83, who died Saturday May 24, 2014, at Alexandria, Minnesota. He will be buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery near Rolette. Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily and friends of Ruth Lund, who passed away on Saturday at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. She was 101 years old. Her memorial service will be held at a later date. Ruth was the wife of Spencer Lund; she spent most of her live in Maryville Township, Rolette County. Minnie Flynn ! Travis Metcalfe, Jake, Dustin and Carson Echlos, all of Mesa, Arizona; Morgan Kaiser and Anthony Stilleto and Chloe, of Bottineau; and Marlene and Rodney Armentrout were Satur- day supper guests of Bryan, Sherry and Landan Armentrout. The Arizona people left Sunday for their homes. On Tuesday afternoon, Peggy Schell and her houseguest, Cindy Schell, visited Lee and Judy Lewis. Randy Schell, Kaylee and Kyle and Peggy Schell went to Devils Lake on Saturday morning and met Cindy Schell, of St. Paul, Minnesota, who had traveled by train to Fargo, and then came by bus to Devils Lake. Jeannie Schell, Kaylee and Kyle, Peggy Schell and Cindy Schell went to Belcourt on Monday where they had Chinese for lunch in honor of Jeannie's birthday that day. Jeannie's mother, Louise Blessum, of Cando, visited Jeannie later in the afternoon and brought a gift for her. On Wednesday, Peggy Schell, Cindy Schell, and Kaylee and Kyle Schell went to Rugby where they met Bob and Edie Schell and Allie, of Harvey; and Daryl and Louise Ver- bitsky; and Daryl and Louise's grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley and Tanner Verbitsky, of rural Butte, and had supper together at a Rugby restaurant. Taylor, Ashley and Tanner came back to Mylo with their grand- mother, Peggy, to spend some time visiting Peggy, Cindy and Randy and Jeannie and family. On Friday, Mary Bee attended the 5 p.m. open house at the home of Curt and Cheryl Bonn, of Rolla, in honor of their daughter, Janessa Bonn, who graduated from Rolla High School on Sunday. Mary Bee attended the high school graduation at Rolla on Sunday afternoon. Later, she was among the relatives and friends at the open house for Jacie Bee, daughter of Jim and Carrie Bee, of rural Perth. Marge Pederson spent the week in Alexandria, Minnesota, and on Fri- day she attended the funeral service for her brother-in-law, Howard Ogard, who lost his life in a motor- cycle accident the previous week. Howard was married to Marge's sis- ter, Donna. On Saturday, Marge Pederson at- tended the open house reception for her nephew, Daniel Ogard, son of Donna Ogard, and the late Howard Ogard, who graduated from high school. Kathy Benson attended the wed- ding of Karl Desplazes in Rugby on Saturday, May 17. Karl is the daugh- ter of Anthony and Angle Desplazes, of Rugby, former Wolford area resi- dents.
